Spork Marketing Blog Now a “NetworkedBlog”
Just when you thought Facebook couldn’t get any more fantastic, along comes a blog network app that allows you to promote your blog on your Facebook profile.
Is this “social media marketing” or shameless self promotion? How about I put together a list…
Reasons this is social media marketing:
- I’m promoting a marketing tool on a social network.
- I can find and form new relationships with potential clients and fellow bloggers via Facebook.
- I’m making it easy for people to digest my blog content on Facebook, a place where the average user spends about 20 minutes looking at their friends profiles, playing games, etc.
Reasons this is shameless self-promotion:
- Most of my Facebook friends are, in reality, my friends. How is promoting my blogging to them anything but self-promotion?
- This “NetworkedBlog” Facebook app associates my blog with me personally – does that smack of vanity or what? Granted, I’m the blog author, but it’s not really about me. I’m doing this to help people and maybe get a little business.
- I had to beg 7 of my friends to follow my blog on Facebook so I could get the app to start displaying my RSS feed.
What do you think – shameless self promotion or genuine social media marketing?
